My Son’s Father Crossed the Line When He Commited Suicide Because He Couldn’t Stop Drinking

My son’s father crossed the line when he drowned himself when my son was two. His dad could not control his drinking, and I insisted he get help. I told him he couldn’t return home and drink. He was visiting his brother when he decided life wasn’t worth living. He took the boat to the middle of the lake. He tied an anchor around his waist and threw himself in the water. Although he left a note, his body wasn’t found for almost two years because of the depth of the lake and the location of the body. During this time, we didn’t know if he was dead or if he had run away to escape his problems. I wasn’t able to move forward with my life until he was found. My son lost the experience of having a father to love and teach him.
